Report from Quito

U.S. emigres figuring it out

About

Minneapolis, Minnesota, was our home for decades. In early 2025 we retired, sold our house, and moved to Ecuador, where our hope is to live solely on our monthly income. That means paying for everything out of a meager social security check, a couple of small pensions and a rapidly depleting trust. Will we manage and, if so, how? And will it matter, when everything we know and love is in another country?
